THIS is one of the BEST books I have ever read! First of all, it deals with one of my favorite time periods, the end of the 1800's at the turn of the century. Secondly, it takes place in Manhattan, New York and is filled with historical significance of this great city including the Statue of Liberty. Last but not least, the story is filled with adventure, a bit of romance, science fiction and crime! Si, the main character, is chosen to go back in time to the 1800's but can it be done? This Top Secret Project is only known to a few people: the President, One Senator and a few other notable characters. Follow Si as he learns everything about the 19th centuy to prepare him for a potential journey back almost 200 years in the past!

I'm a vote with the other review - this is my FAVORITE fun book of all time! I read it at least once a year, have an original first edition hardback I would NOT give up for anything, and even have an audio version of this. Wonderful!!! All my reader-friends have copies of this now, so when I find one 'floating' around they go on BookMooch for others who are looking for them. I first read this in 1973, not too long after it came out, so you can imagine how many time I have read it...like the "Wizard of Oz" - it's a tradition!
