A good intertwined tale about vampire hunting. Took quite a while to get into it, but once into it you just had to read the rest to find out what happened.

Loved this book. Yes, took a bit of getting into but I sailed through it. A kind of "Da Vinci Code" for vampire hunters.

One of my favorite books of last year, too. This was the first book in a long time that actually scared me when reading it at night......it seemed like Dracula could be around any corner! I look forward to Kostova's next book, I can't wait to see what she does next.

Really enjoyed it. After reading "The Fledgling," I was highly discouraged in vampire novels, until I picked up this one.

One of my favorite books of the past several years. I'm considered a book snob by friends and family, and this book accomplishes something so few do these days: it weaves intelligent, well-written prose with a well-paced story, so it transcends a few genres and pleases so many different readers! I literally stayed up all night reading this novel! If you have any tangent interest in high-minded vampire lore, historical fiction, or literary fiction, this is a must-read. It is a rather hefty book, but you'll be too engrossed to mind.

A good story, but told in a very meandering style that meant a lot of superfluous detail and for that reason it didn't always hold my attention.
