treehugger (USA: CA) (2008/08/24): Worth reading. This story was written by a Chinese journalist who lived in the USA for two years in the early 1980s, and he observed the cultural differences between American culture and China. A lot has changed in the past 25 years, though many of his observations might still hold true today. For example: "In the United States, food is plentiful and much is wasted and many people are afraid of eating too much and becoming fat... In China, food has been a major concern of everyone's daily life for over a thousand years. We have had to struggle to produce enough to eat." An easy read.
